T-Mobile Ameo

Ameo_germany
Everyone thought the HTC Athena would cost $1,700? Okay, so maybe not many people actually put any faith into that figure, but I bet no one thought it would actually end up being less than half of that.

Yep! T-Mobile Germany has just announced that the Ameo (Athena's European twin) will in fact only require you to part with a fairly reasonable 500 euros. That's just $650. You know, of course, that the price can only be yours with a two-year contract, but since when is that a big deal? Everyone has already had plenty of time to process and accept stuff like this, so let's move on.

Pricing in other countries is still unknown, but it's really only a matter of time.

New T-Mobile Sidekick

t-mobile sidekick.jpg

Latest iteration of the “teen popular” Sidekick last week. This version (aka – Sidekick 2008 or Sidekick Gekko) has video playback capabilities, Spanish languages support and a customizable outer case (black and metallic green ship with the phone). People have been buying them in the stores and I just noticed they’re available online for $149 after a $50 mail in rebate. Unfortunately the most expensive part of these phones is the data plans. The cheapest T-Mobile plan is $39 per month for 300 voice minutes plus $ 29 for data for a “teen budget stretching” $ 68 per month (before taxes and fees). If you have to have it, online purchasing beats standing in line at T-Mobile retail – so use the link below to get right to the order page. PS – One alternative to the $ 68 per month plan is to go prepaid which will run you $ 1 per day of data use and .

Samsung GT-16320C

GT-16320C lets users view mobile TV.

Samsung had developed TD-SCDMA technologies in 2003. TD-HSDPA is a 3.5G mobile communication technology that is a development from TD-SCDMA. It enables users to download files at 2.8Mbps which, according to Samsung, is a faster speed than TD-SCDMA.

Looking back in to the books of history, Samsung has previously presented an industry-first TD-SCDMA phone dubbed SGH L288 in April 2008, and then the company showed off its Windows mobile operating system-based SGH I688 in June 2008.

Now users are able to watch mobile TV around 150 cities in China as the GT-16320C supports Chinese mobile TV service.

Samsung S300

It's more interesting that more than one and a half of all folder type models with two screens will have only colour displays. The first prototype of such model will be Samsung S300, the external display of which is made with a help of STN technology and displays up to 256 colours. The advantages of colour display are not obvious in the standby mode. You see a colour background and that's all. But the advantages become apparent when you receive an incoming call or message or when a reminder is turned on. Colour icons and messages appear on the external display and it is really very attractive.

The features of the phone are comparable to those in Samsung A800, the only exception is that the internal display is also coloured and shows up to 65000 colours (TFT). The phone also supports 40-tones polyphony. The dimensions of this handset are similar to Samsung A800. In spite of the analogues body, the battery of A800 is not compatible with S300. S300 has a lithium-ion battery of 800 mAh capacity. The phone can work several days in case of 7-10 minutes of talking per day, it's not bad result for such kind of phone. I repeat once again that the functions of this phone are the same as the functions of Samsung A800, for more details see this review. It is expected that S300.

cellular telephones were very early mobile phones, produced by Siemens AG. The company created the first phone with a colour screen, (the S10, with 4 different colours - red, green, blue and white - that could be displayed), the first "outdoor" phone (the S10 Active, with enhanced shock, dust and splash protection), the first slider phone (the SL10), the first phone with real GPS support (the SXG75) and probably the first phone with an MP3 player and external memory card support (MultiMediaCard) (Siemens SL45). In 2005 the Taiwanese company BenQ acquired the financially bleeding mobile phone subsidiary from Siemens and gained the exclusive right to use Siemens trademark for 5 years.
ST55 does not come with an MP3 player. This phone comes with built in polyphonic ringtones, which means you can download simple MIDI files from the Internet and upload them through your phone, or simply download them via GRPS (if GRPS is built in). We do not recommend purchasing polyphonic ringtones from pay-per-use services such as television commercials.

T-Mobile

“unofficially official” press shots of the T-Mobile G2 have been used by T-Mobile in their latest T-Mobile Scoop article. “The wait is just about to end” they say, and we’d believe them. Samsung Jet

samsung-mobile-phone-add05-33014-1265805270

Navigating around the phone using the touch screen was a decent enough experience without any major problems encountered.

The button residing in the middle underneath the screen acts as a return key to the last screen and that's about it. It's an odd setup and one that took some getting used to, where frequently we pressed the return key for the menu time and time again. The actual menu buttons for the various applications were at the base of the touch screen's window, which cuts down on the available room that application has to display its wares.

Running the handset is Samsung's own proprietary operating system which has never been named before, unlike the Wave with its new Samsung Bada OS. On top of this unnamed platform is the TouchWiz user interface, with a slightly modified theme to accommodate the smaller screen size. The INQ first saw 2.0 of TouchWiz on the Samsung Jet mobile last year, where ‘2.0 plus' has now been incorporated into this new handset and sits somewhere in between the Jet's UI and the Samsung Wave with its version 3 of the user interface.

The largest noticeable difference between the overlays on the operating systems is that the widget bar isn't down the left hand side of the three customisable home screens anymore. Instead there's just a widget activation button on the home screen that produces the housing area for all the widgets, which pops up from the bottom of the screen. There's a decent array of Java based widgets for a fairly budgeted phone residing here

SAMSUNG'S MONTE

samsung-mobile-phone-add01-33025-1265805270

The Monte isn't a design of a typical touch screen mobile, as it has a slim, long screen and therefore overall body. The Samsung handset measures 108.8mm x 53.7mm x 12.4mm, which gives the Monte the look and feel of a candy bar style phone, but with no physical keypad.

It's almost as if Samsung has shrunk down one of its previous Jet models to produce a mini version of that handset in much the same way that Sony Ericsson has with the Xperia X10 for the Xperia X10 Mini, or Nokia has with the N97 for the N97 Mini. The Monte's case is entirely made of plastic and does feel a little on the cheap side, while getting noticeably grubby with fingerprints throughout the day.

Samsung's i200 Windows

A new Samsung smartphone is still a new Samsung smartphone, and so we're quite pleased that someone's managed to sneak a prototype i200 out for a little face time ahead of its planned debut later this quarter. At 11.8mm thick, the Windows Mobile 6 (6.1, perhaps?) Standard handset should disappear nicely into a breast or pant pocket, and that'll have to be a key selling point since it lacks both WiFi and GPS. On the upside, you still get a who's-who of GSM standards all the way up to HSDPA, there's a 2 megapixel cam around back, and we're kinda digging the blue trim. Price this one reasonably, Samsung

HTC Hero Sprint

One of the first carriers to join the Open Handset Alliance when it was founded in November 2007 to promote Google Android. However, unlike T-Mobile, which released the T-Mobile G1 and the T-Mobile MyTouch 3G, the carrier wasn’t so quick to offer an Android handset to its customers because it simply didn’t think the operating system was “good enough”; that is, until now.
The HTC Hero offers a highly customizable user interface thanks to HTC Sense. It also improves on past Android devices with Outlook e-mail, calendar, and contacts synchronization, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a 5-megapixel camera. Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and 3G support are all onboard.

The bad: The smartphone can occasionally be sluggish. Flash content didn’t always work from the Web browser. Apps must still be downloaded to the phone’s internal memory. Media syncing software would nice, as would be a file manager.

The bottom line: While it could use a boost in the performance department, the HTC Hero is the most feature-packed Google Android device to date.
