LG GW620

All aboard! Image: LG Mobile.  LG Mobile from elbowing its way aboard with the new GW620 ‘Etna’ handset.

Recently leaked during the IFA Consumer Electronics trade fair in Berlin, the GW620 at least attempts to rise above the swollen smartphone ranks by coming equipped with the popular open-source Android mobile operating system (OS) and a focus on quick access to social networking destinations.

So, beyond the inclusion of the Google-backed OS, what else has LG Mobile crammed inside the GW620 in order to tempt prospective consumers away from the likes of the Apple iPhone, the Palm Pre, or any of RIM’s desirable BlackBerry platforms?

Equipped with a solid 3.0-inch display with touch-screen capabilities, the GW620 also has a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, LG’s S-Class user interface (UI) skinned over the Android OS, and also a 5.0 mega pixel camera with video recording functionality.
